Biography

Sergey Kubrak is a true legend of the Siberian drum & bass scene. His passion for electronic music began back in 1997, inspired by artists like The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, and The Crystal Method. Around this time, he also started experimenting with music production. By 2001, Kubrak became deeply immersed in drum & bass, drawing influence from pioneers like Sta & Paul B, Trace, Teebee, Usual Suspects, Future Cut, Kosheen, Black Sun Empire, EZ Rollers, Ed Rush & Optical, and many others.

His first releases appeared in 2006 on Deformed Sounds and Gunsta, with several more tracks following on digital and CD formats from 2006 to 2008. In 2008, Kubrak caught the attention of Lifted Music’s Chris Renegade, leading to a series of releases on the sublabel Breed12Inches, including his debut vinyl in 2009. Around this time, he co-founded the Utopia project with fellow musicians Error and Implex, while also releasing tracks on Tamrecords.

Kubrak’s musical journey also extended into hip-hop. After high school, he joined the rap group “Lost Balance,” where he both performed and produced music. Later, he became part of “Siberian Syndicate,” primarily focusing on production. His talents led to official remixes for 25/17 and collaborations with artists like GROT, Supets, and D-Man 55, providing mixing and beats. Kubrak was instrumental in mixing GROT’s debut EP Nobody But Us, fostering a long-term partnership that continues to this day.
