Receptor vs.Gydra
RECEPTOR & GYDRA team up for the second NEUROPUNK RECORDS EP, displaying their sound across four tracks in both collaborative and solo formats.Taking inspiration from a breadth of different sonic styles, RECEPTOR’s releases have been featured on labels such as BLACKOUT, MED SCHOOL, & FORBIDDEN SOCIETY RECORDINGS, unique in the degree to which they expand sonic boundaries within the drum & bass world. The pairing of himself with NEUROPUNK label heads GYDRA results in an equally expansive EP, stretching from aggressive peak time tracks to deep and inquisitive rollers across its concise span.KEEP ON opens the EP with a palette distinctively colored by its near melancholic pads and electronic chime, but quickly supplants this as it surges forth at the behest of its vocal sample, transformed by the powerful oscillating bassline which supports it. RECEPTOR then displays his solo effort in the form of FIND YOU, which carries its obsessive vocal by PAT FULGONI across a drumbeat that stalks through the vast reverberations of its distant textures. GYDRA are joined by MC MESSY for MANIFEST, which applies his lyrical talents to a stripped down track that struts through umbral atmospheres punctuated by the pulses of a distorted & airy synth. Finally, TEDDY KILLERZ join the EP to place their spin on KEEP ON, rearranging its elements and flipping its powerful bassline across a pounding four beat pattern before grinding it into a new form during a heavily distorted second drop. With the second release on the label, RECEPTOR & GYDRA continue to push the core tenets of NEUROPUNK RECORDINGS with a focus on experimental sonics that still maintain a powerful dancefloor presence, resulting dearth of novel sounds backed by serious bassweight.
